The school sets the rules. A watch in the classroom should help teachers, not work against them.
The dassie, or rock hyrax, is a small South African favourite. Dassies live in close family colonies, and there’s always one keeping a lookout while the others go about their day. Every dassie is watched over. That felt like exactly the right name.
Smartwatches were arriving in classrooms anyway. Parents loved them and teachers didn’t. We asked a simple question: what if the watch was designed with the school, not around it? That question became dassie.

Privacy isn’t a feature we add later. The boundary between school and home is built into the product.
Built for South African primary schools, Grade R–7, with data kept in the country.
Kids should love wearing it. Parents and staff should find it simple to use.
